I suppose you got the 2.41:1 economy gear. add a 3:73:1, blow up the motor and put an LS derivitive... only cost three to four times what ya got into it so far.

Fire that money gun!

yeah, the mpg seems about right with the non-lockup 3 speed slushbox.

Upgrade is still in the planning stages. Car is still all in 1 piece, runs and drives..

Took it for it's last 135HP ride on Sat..

Let's let the kitty out of the bag.

9:30 PM after dinner and test fitting 3 sets of exhaust manifolds.

This is only mockup. Gotta fully weld the motor mount brackets I made (I love my plasma cutter!!), do a light notch in the x-member for the oilpan, and a little on the RH frame to fit the manifolds I want to run. Stock 2004 Silverado fan fits the stock fan shroud, as does a thicker core 1988-1995 Chevy Silverado V8 radiator. Rad cap clears the underside of the hood by 5/8" as does the air cleaner, though I need to cut the insulation out to fit a taller air cleaner if I can get it to fit. Also, the 79 has the brake prop valve on the frame right where the manifold-downpipe flange fits.. this might be the time to put the 91-96 master and prop valve in.

What's the plan for an ignition system?
HORSEPOWER - is how fast you hit the wall.
TORQUE - is how far you move the wall when you hit it.

I have the MSD ignition box coming that runs the stock LS coils using the stock crank and cam sensor.

I need a Holley Blue or Red fuel pump though.

Final assembly is this weekend. Heads are on the UPS truck for delivery today.

Things to do.
Install cat-back, and fab up pipes between manifolds and cat-back.
Move brake prop valve, and modify brake lines.
Paint oilpan.
Assemble engine. Currently, it's a block with a crank in it. Rods and pistons are ready to go in, need to change out to cam #3.
Mount fuel pump and run lines.
Run electrical for generator, fuel pump, choke and guages
Make up mouting plate for oil pressure and water temp gauges. Since the dash was cut for a doubledDIN radio, I might enlarge the opening, and install them there.

Hope that I have everything I need to fire the motor this weekend.

Things aquired over the week.
Carb/ignition setup.
Holley 670 Street Avenger
B&M 2400 converter for the turbo 3-FIDDY
VDO water and oil guages with metric sender adapters.
Paint
Cam #3. Comp XR275
Valve cover gaskets and grommets for center bolts
PS pressure and return lines

Things already done.
Notching x-member for oilpan clearance. While it cleared by 3/8" at the tightest spots, I wanted more and I might have over notched. But it'll fit.
mod to frame for pass side manifold. Everything was boxed back in.
Engine side motor mount brackets fabbed, test fit, TIG'd and painted.
Painted Alt/PS pump bracket.
Got the muffler hanger brackets from an LT1 Roadie with the rubber isolators.
Fogged the engine bay to cover up the rusty bits.

If anybody wants to stop by and throw peanuts at me while I work, feel free. I'll be wrenching from 2PM today through Sunday.

Don't know about tossing peanuts, but I can hold your beer and make sarcastic remarks.
