Dreamapalooza 2001 Caravan Info

From Illinois (the HERD):
If you are coming through the Chicago area on your way to Dreamapalooza and want to hook up with the HERD caravan, Garry Forman is putting plans together.
The schedule may change a little, but the plan is to leave on Sunday morning, at 9:00 a.m. from the Lincoln oasis on the Tri- State tollway. The Lincoln oasis is at the south end of the tollway, between the exits for Halsted and I-80/I-94. We will take I-80/I-94 east and follow I-80 when they split, to I-69. At I-69 we'll go north to the town of Coldwater and meet up with the Indianapolis convoy for lunch. From there, we'll take I-69 to I-94 and head east again, all the way to Livonia. We should arrive at the Holiday Inn between 3:00 and 3:30 Sunday afternoon. Please try to get to the oasis by 8:45 a.m. so we can have a final planning meeting before we depart. The use of CB radios while we caravan is strongly encouraged, we will again be using channel 2.

From South Florida and regions Southeast:
The Southern contingent of Impala's will leave S.Florida on the morning of Saturday, August 11th. We will lay-over just north of Chattanooga that night. Sunday morning we will rendezvous at our hotel with the Atlanta SS'ers and make the run to Detroit, arriving there Sunday night. The route will be the Florida Turnpike to I-75 all the way. All those interested in joining this Caravan along the way, please contact me. If you thought the "St. Louis" Caravan was fun, "You Ain't SSeen Nothing Yet". Let's make this the greatest yet.

Update 7/21/01:
We will be leaving the Miami area early Saturday A.M., hooking-up with others in the Orlando area around 10:30 A.M. then to I-75 North. Our overnight stop will be at the Econo Lodge at exit 25 of I-75, North of Chattanooga. When we get ready to move out Sunday morning we will be joined by Howard Rothstein and the great bunch of SS'ers from the Atlanta area. Let's make this the largest Northward caravan yet. We had 22 B-bodies when we entered St. Louis last year. We know we can top that. If you haven't signed on yet, let me know where you want to join us along the way.

Update 7/24/01: Howard Rothstein and Roger McKay have added this great pdf file of their itinerary for the trip north.

Contact Roger McKay for the latest information.

From New England:
There are a few of us coming from the New England area on Saturday August 11th arriving in Detroit that night. The current plan, unless we get in a war with Canada, is to cut across Canada from the upstate New York Area. We're not sure just where yet.
We will have CB's and FRS capabilities along with cellular phones.
It will not be a high speed caravan, 70-75mph will be the norm.

There we may rendezvous with the Herd caravan for lunch (depending on their arrival time). Any clubs traveling from the west or south wishing to join us are invited. We can recommend accommodations in and around the Indy area if needed."

Sat 8/11 - On to Detroit, driving I-80 until we GO AROUND Chicago and hit I-94 somewhere. Tully will go to the host hotel, I'll break off shortly before Detroit to go see a college roommate of mine in Deckerville MI (about 120 miles north/NE of Detroit) and head back to the host hotel on Sunday Afternoon If anyone wants to join our caravan, drop me an email at Ed_Runnion@RegionOfDoom.com
